Usage Hints

The military political aim of the AIRPOWER09 is to communicate its core message: "Protection and Aid - Man and Machine" by use of the following topics:

  • Military homeland defence means the guaranteeing of full national sovereignty on the ground and in the air.
  • The pilots and technicians of the Austrian Air Force are competent professionals for the protection of the home airspace.
  • Airspace surveillance is provided by passive components (the "Goldhaube" radar system) and active assets (the EFT interceptor).
  • In order to maintain air sovereignty, it is necessary to locate, identify and, if necessary, force foreign aircraft to leave the airspace or to land.
  • The Austrian Air Force is an integral part of the common ESDP.
  • The importance of military aviation in crisis scenarios is constantly increasing.
  • In disaster relief operations (caused by floods, avalanches and remote wildfires) or after accidents where road vehicles and manpower alone cannot help sufficiently, the Austrian Air Force is able to provide support.
