Variety and a change of scene in the Murtal region.

The peaks of the Tauern, the Nockberge mountains as well as the Seetaler and Seckauer Alps are a hiker's paradise. The quaint alpine huts are the perfect place to rest and recharge the batteries, offering Austrian specialities.

Relax at the Aqualux Fohnsdorf and Wildbad Einöd spas. A further attraction are the summer toboggan runs in Turracher Höhe and Grebenzen.

Hundreds of kilometres of cycleways and trails lead down through the valleys or up towards higher ground with superb panoramic views. The horseback rides are another way to relax.

The countless mountain lakes and streams offer great fishing.

The Murtal region has many other attractions worth visiting, such as the vivarium, planetarium, wood museum, VW Beetle museum, Märchenwald (enchanted forest) theme park, and much more.

In winter the Murtal ski mountains with 60 cable railways and lifts are perfect for skiing or snowboarding on 160 kilometres of slopes, most of which can be covered with snow using machines, guaranteeing snow between 800 and 2,222 m above sea level.

Cross-country skiing, 200 km of cross-country ski runs, ice-skating and tobogganing as well as winter hikes round off the winter experience.

Incidentally, the Murtal region is easily accessible via the A10 Tauern motorway or the A9 Phyrn motorway.
