This plane was made by hand but is yet extremely futuristic. On the one hand it has a canvas-covered rudder, but on the other hand completely new developed main planes: these details are showing that the Dornier D-24ATT is one of the most remarkable planes worldwide.
The tri-motored hydroplane was built in 1944 and has remained the only airworthy plane of this type. Until 1971, it was used as a sea evacuation craft by Spain, in 1983 it was fitted with new engines and new trapezoidal main planes in order to become an amphibious technology carrier, then it was brought to a museum, again set free, and now it is in the possession of Iren Dornier, the grandson of the legendary plane constructor Claude Dornier.
On each air show the Do-24ATT is gracing with its presence, its performance belongs undoubtedly to the top acts - thus also on the AirPower09.
